A package of services. Along with the rhizomes you receive agronomic consultancy, a crop management plan, a cost-of-production feasibility study and calibration of the planting machine by our engineer.
Terravesta Athena at a glance
Terravesta Athena is a variety of Miscanthus × giganteus. The variety is owned by Terravesta (United Kingdom), our official partner. What it delivers in the field:
-
sterile and non-invasive — no viable seed, spreads over a maximum of about 1 m², does not contaminate your field or neighbouring land;
-
drought-tolerant;
-
higher calorific value and lower ash content than standard giganteus;
-
around 86% establishment rate;
-
up to +50% yield compared with wild giganteus;
-
a steady ~20 t/ha of dry biomass from year four.
Miscanthus is a perennial crop: biomass is harvested from the same stand for around 20 years, so you buy the planting material once. More on the variety on the variety page.

How we set the planting rate. The site audit covers soil analysis, water availability, annual rainfall, terrain and minimum seasonal temperatures. On that basis we select the rate — 20,000 or 22,000 rhizomes per hectare. Prices shown are for the 2026 season.
How supply works
-
Site audit. We assess your soil and conditions to select the correct planting rate.
-
Calculation and quotation. We prepare a crop management plan, a cost-of-production study and a quotation for your area.
-
Storage and packing. Rhizomes are held in refrigerated storage under a managed micro-climate and packed so that establishment is not compromised.
-
Delivery and timing. The planting window is spring, so orders are placed well in advance to make the season.
-
If you need the material planted as well as supplied, we establish plantations with our own machinery — details on the page.
Quality and provenance guarantees
We sell rhizomes from our own mother plantation of a registered variety, not resold material of unknown origin. That means traceability for every batch, varietal conformity and documented status. As an official Terravesta partner, we work with a variety proven at commercial scale.
