Miscanthus Technology

Green future of Ukraine

Miscanthus Technology

was created in 2023 by representatives from various industries who have practical experience in the implementation and management of green energy, vegetable growing, and international logistics projects.

Our goal

creation of an industrial miscanthus plantation on an area of 2,500 hectares using marginal land for further processing of biomass.

Miscanthus giganteus

Miscanthus giganteus - is a species of perennial grass that is actively used around the world to grow biomass with a high cellulose content, which is an alternative to deforestation. The plant's ability to absorb carbon makes the processing or burning of miscanthus CO2-neutral, which is important in the face of climate change and compliance with environmental standards. This plant is undemanding to the quality of the soil, it grows perfectly on degraded, unproductive lands and restores their fertility in the process of growth and accumulation of biomass.

The possibilities of processing miscanthus biomass allow to create a number of products with added value, for example: paper; fuel pellets, briquettes, wood chips; building materials; soundproof plates; furniture products; bioethanol; hygienic filler for pets and bedding for domestic animals; disposable dishes and packaging; in the future, the sale of carbon credits/certificates will be opened for owners of miscanthus plantations.

Energy from the Moon for a Sustainable and Inclusive Transition launches

Miscanthus Technologies has become the Ukrainian partner of the international project “Miscanthus Energy for a Sustainable and Inclusive Transition”, which is implemented within the framework of the Innovate Ukraine (Round 2) program.

The project brings together experts and scientific institutions from the UK, Spain, Poland, Germany and Ukraine and is aimed at creating a scalable model of green energy and the restoration of rural areas.

The initiative is based on the cultivation of miscanthus on degraded and abandoned lands. It is a perennial low-carbon crop that restores soils, absorbs CO₂ and provides raw materials for bioenergy, bioconstruction and sustainable materials.

Miscanthus Technology's role in the project:

• adaptation of growing technologies to Ukrainian conditions;
• launch of demonstration plots;
• development of planting material infrastructure;
• preparation of training programs for communities and vocational education;
• scaling the model in the regions of Ukraine.

The project promotes energy independence of communities, development of circular economy and creation of jobs in rural areas.

The Innovate Ukraine Round 2 project is funded by the UK Agency for International Development (FCDO).
